"There are reputable climate scientist such as Dr. Roy Spencer, Dr. Richard Lindzen who disagree with the doomsday scenarios of Al Gore and Dr. James Hansen."
But there are millions upon millions of scientists in the world, so of course some will disagree. For instance, today Stephen Hawking (reputable scientist) said it would disastrous for us to try and contact aliens and we should stop attempting to do so, yet there are other reputable scientists trying to contact alien life. There were scientists who didn't think things like walking on the moon nor the atomic bomb were possible. There are still scientists arguing over cold fusion. The YEC whackos can even point to scientists who don't think the Earth is billions of years old. The realities are that the overwhelming majority of scientists are currently in the opinion that we are contributing to global warming. You can see a list in my other response to "Anonymous."

Your perspective is what is alarming. Based on that logic, we should have never bothered to cross the ocean to sail to the new world. We should have never tried to do a heart transplant. We should have never attempted to go to the moon... All of those things were deemed impossible at one point in time.
National and international science academies and scientific societies have assessed the current scientific opinion, in particular on recent global warming. These assessments have largely followed or endorsed the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) position of January 2001 which states:
"An increasing body of observations gives a collective picture of a warming world and other changes in the climate system... There is new and stronger evidence that most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities."
NO SCIENTIFIC BODY OF NATIONAL OR INTERNATIONAL STANDING HAS MAINTAINED A DISSENTING OPINION.
"Nothing proposed by alarmists like you will stop warming now either."

Global warming IS happening. The percent to which man has contributed is what is the unknown factor. It might be a lot, it might be nothing at all. We don't know for sure.
Thus, people like yourself who are against it are taking the most ridiculous stance imaginable. In fact, it is one of the most foolish major issues to argue about whatsoever. Why? Because why wouldn't we try to live in a cleaner environment????
Let me ask you: If you could live in your current house as it is now with you dusting once a week, vacuuming once a week, etc. OR you could have a free maid come by whenever you weren't home and clean everything from top to bottom every single day, wouldn't you rather live in the cleaner environment???
SO WHY WOULD ANYONE BE NAIVE ENOUGH TO FIGHT AGAINST DOING ALL THAT WE CAN TO HAVE A CLEANER PLANET???? It is so insanely foolish that it barely deserves comment.
Gee... I could breathe in polluted air or clean air, which would I pick? I could have clean rivers or lakes or I could have polluted ones, gee, which one would I pick?
So let's do all we can to stop global warming whether it is caused by humans or not. WHY wouldn't we? If the scientists are right and we are able to curb it, then that's great for us. If they are wrong and we can't do anything about it, then we have a cleaner planet which is great for us. It's a win-win situation.
In the meantime, we create a bunch of new jobs, we conserve our natural resources, we pollute less, we no longer require our dependence on foreign oil (which will be in much greater demand as India and China are growing more wealthy with huge populations eventually purchasing more cars), etc, etc, etc.
If the government wanted to give us all cleaner drinking water because they thought 3 inch tall leprechauns were going to invade us, then who cares what their reasoning is... we all benefit by getting cleaner water.
So why do people argue this? I'll tell you why... it goes back to the science versus religion issue. Religious people (most of whom happen to be on the conservative right) subconsciously want to "prove" science wrong so then they use that to say science is inaccurate and unreliable about other things, so they can get items such as Intelligent Design into schools, so they can say doctors are wrong about abortions, so they can say that we really didn't evolve from monkeys (because most are so ignorant as to not even understand that no one of credible science even thinks we evolved from monkeys), so that they can say things like Noah's Ark is real, so that YEC's can claim that the Earth is only several thousand years old, etc, etc, etc. it is insanity.
If ANYTHING, the religious right should be pressing for this to happen to keep the Earth that God gave everyone as clean as possible. if you went over to a neighbor's house, you wouldn't litter it with filth, but instead you would respect it. The Earth is far more important than your neighbor's house.
"Real scientists, without a political agenda, do respectfully disagree."
