"Global warming isn't real. It is a hoax."
This is frightening that people think this. Do people realize that the Arctic Ice Cap is disappearing? Does anyone even understand what this means? While this melting won't raise sea levels due to Archimedes' Principle, it will have a HUGE effect on the planet. Why? Because currently the ice acts as a "reflective shield" of sorts against the sun. This is the same concept as why wearing white clothes in the heat are cooler than wearing dark clothes. On the other hand, the oceans ABSORB the heat. More water & less ice = more heat. This changes the entire dynamic of the oceans and the food chain. Warmer oceans mean warmer climates. Warmer climates means more ice melting. More ice melting means less reflection of heat and more absorption of heat. Less ice means massive amounts of methane (more than 20 times worse than carbon dioxide) get released from underneath permafrost into our atmosphere.?This then traps in even MORE heat into the earth. Then when the ice in Antarctica melts, sea levels begin to rise because Antarctica is a continent, not an ice sheet. Coastal cities are up the creek then (pun possibly intended). Etc, etc, etc...
